Vendor Trust Score System Update

Single aggregate scores are replaced by four-dimension trust profiles covering Reliability, Communication, Accuracy, and Resolution for more nuanced vendor evaluation.

Vendor Trust Score System Update - Nexus marketplace news

Nexus has deployed a major revision to the vendor trust scoring system, replacing the previous single-score reputation model with a multi-factor trust profile visible to buyers before they make a purchase decision. The update addresses feedback from buyers who found the old single-number score insufficient for evaluating vendor risk, and from vendors who felt the system did not distinguish between different types of performance. The new system is live for all accounts.

From Score to Profile

The previous system displayed a single aggregate score on a 5.0 scale, derived primarily from buyer feedback ratings. While simple to understand, this single number collapsed multiple distinct quality dimensions into one figure that was often misleading. A vendor who consistently dispatched on time, communicated promptly, and occasionally delivered a product that did not match the listing description precisely would score identically to a vendor with opposite strengths and weaknesses -- both might average 4.3, despite representing very different risk profiles for different types of buyers.

The new trust profile surfaces four distinct dimensions: Reliability (order completion and dispatch timing), Communication (response speed and quality), Accuracy (listing description versus delivered product), and Resolution (dispute rate and dispute outcome pattern). Each dimension has its own score, and buyers can weight these dimensions according to what matters most for their purchase. A buyer prioritizing discreet packaging over speed can focus on Accuracy; a buyer for whom fast delivery is critical can prioritize Reliability.

How the Dimensions Are Computed

Reliability draws from dispatch confirmation timestamps relative to stated processing times, and from buyer-reported estimated versus actual delivery data. Communication is derived from message response timestamps within vendor conversations, weighted by conversation stage (first contact is weighted more heavily than later messages). Accuracy is computed from buyer feedback specifically addressing listing accuracy, and from dispute records where the claimed issue was misrepresentation. Resolution is the inverse of the dispute rate, adjusted by outcome: disputes ruled in favor of the buyer count negatively; disputes ruled in favor of the vendor count neutrally; disputes that are successfully resolved through direct vendor communication before formal filing count positively.

All four dimension scores are updated in near-real-time as new transactions complete and feedback is submitted. The profile also displays tenure (account age), total completed transactions, and a 90-day activity indicator. This gives buyers a complete picture rather than a single number to evaluate. Vendors should review their profile dimensions and focus improvement efforts on their lowest-scoring areas. For guidance on optimizing vendor listings and performance, see platform information.
